Beatritz (Gaming Table Set): Table, desk, seating, accompanying game.

In my work, I have repeatedly been drawn to the subject of connection and relationships, and how my furniture can allow me to connect to others. My thesis project at Maine College of Art & Design, Beatritz, was inspired by tabletop role-playing games and the history of board games that precedes them.
Board games have carried parallel functions of storytelling and social connection, from the earliest human civilizations to modern-day Dungeons & Dragons. Using medieval aesthetics to reference that history and sword-and-sorcery fantasy, Beatritz is a love letter to the friendships forged over board games across the years.
Beatritz includes a drop-leaf gaming table with removable storage compartment, plus desk attachment, Game Master screen, two knock-down benches inspired by medieval examples, and two stools.
I developed an accompanying table-top game to be played as part of the exhibition. The game, Court of Nothing, is pictured in two hand-bound booklets and can be downloaded here!
